The funeral service of the late Samuel Kwesi Bensah will be held on 11 July, 2025 at Lashibi Funeral Home in Accra.
Described in some quarters as one of Africa’s “first and finest human translation machines”, Mr.Bensah, up until his retirement from Brussels-based ACP Secretariat in 2004 where he had worked since 1980, was considered one of the finest English translators who consistently delivered documents before time.
His 50+-year working experience as a language expert included stints at Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ghana-Togo Border Commission; OAU; then-ECOWAS Fund, Togo; then-ECOWAS Secretariat, Lagos, Nigeria; UNECA until his appointment at ACP Secretariat.
An EU-trained English Language Reviser, he was also a trainer – reason for which the Abuja-based ECOWAS Commission called him to train upcoming translators even after retirement for five years in 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Joyce Ceeta Bensah, and his son, Emmanuel K Bensah Jr.
