SAATM STORY LABS
Launching September 2026 on ECOWAS Business News

E K Bensah Jr is launching SAATM Story Labs in September 2026 as a pre-launch demonstration of the kind of work that will sit behind the Bensah Continental Narrative Intelligence (BCNI) system in 2027. The timing is deliberate: the African Union has adopted 2027 as the year focused on leveraging the full potential of SAATM and new technologies for continental integration, while calling for collaboration involving the AUC, AFCAC, AfCFTA, AUDA-NEPAD and other stakeholders. (African Union) SAATM itself is an Agenda 2063 flagship project intended to improve intra-African connectivity and support the continent’s economic integration and growth. (African Union)

Through 10–16 narrative templates, Bensah is attempting something different from simply publishing articles about aviation. The Story Labs will take SAATM as a starting point and explore the human stories, institutional questions, business opportunities, conflicts, communication challenges and possible futures hidden within the policy. One template might become a human-interest story about an African entrepreneur trying to reach a new market; another could explore aviation and AfCFTA; another could examine technology and connectivity; another could use the fictional AFRIPOL Special Crimes Unit from #JazzNightsJupiter to explore vulnerabilities and threat analysis. The objective is to give journalists, communicators, students, filmmakers and other storytellers story premises they can research, localise, challenge and transform into their own work.

Most importantly, SAATM Story Labs is not intended to be the final product. It is an open narrative laboratory. A storyteller in Ghana might take one template in a completely different direction from a storyteller in Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia or Senegal. A journalist might turn a template into an investigation; a filmmaker might develop a screenplay; a student might create a documentary treatment; a communications professional might transform one into a public-awareness campaign. In this way, E K Bensah Jr is using the approach developed through #JazzNightsJupiter and the Agenda 2063 Cinematic Universe to demonstrate, before BCNI’s formal 2027 launch, how complex continental policies can become starting points for a much larger ecosystem of African stories.
