The AU’s “Decisions” of the 48th Ordinary Session is a 128-page document produced in February 2026 after the AU Summit.

This edition makes very interesting reading as you feel a greater weight of the AUC offering important instructions to AU organs – AfCfta; APRM; ACERWC; AUDA NEPAD; ECOSOCC; AUABC; AfCHPR – to comply on a number of pending issues, such as budgets; financing; over-reliance on donors; and abuse of travel arrangements and ticketing.

We are reminded of the necessity of Member states to comply with pledges made at the 2022 Malabo Extraordinary Humanitarian Summit to help fast-track the operationalisation of the African Humanitarian Agency based in Uganda.

Key outcomes include new commitments to strengthening coffee as a key crop for the Union; plus a call for member states to “actively engage” with African Risk Capacity “by utilizing its technical expertise, participating in knowledge-sharing sessions, and leveraging its resources to make informed and proactive decisions on disaster risk management and financing.”

The AU fully endorses “The African Union Model Act on Disaster Preparedness and Response in Humanitarian Context”, and calls on the Commission to support “Member States in addressing the humanitarian consequences of climate change, including through anticipatory action and risk-informed planning.”

Watch out for a deep-dive soon from the lens of how we read #7AUAgencies, which includes AMDC and AfCAC.

In this latest decision, neither two agencies are referred to specifically.
